Frequently Asked Questions
There are several features to consider when shopping for a DMPO, such as:
• Price. Although a few DMPOs are free, most charge monthly fees. Some also charge transaction costs, require deposits, or have other additional fees. Make sure you understand all the costs of your plan and once you’ve been enrolled for a few months, check to make sure that you save more than you spend on membership.
• Types of services. DMPOs offer discounts on everything from medical care to amusement parks. But not every DMPO offers every service, and the greater the number of discounted services, the more your monthly costs will likely total. Figure out what sorts of services you want discounted and choose an appropriate plan.
• Network size. Find out how many physicians, pharmacies, hospitals and other institutions accept the DMPO. Similarly, check to see how many local providers accept the DMPO as coverage can vary significantly by region.
• Preferred provider. If you have a favorite doctor, dentist or pharmacy, call and ask them if they accept your discount card.
• Medication availability. Before paying for DMPO membership, you may want to ensure that your DMPO will discount any drugs you take.
